Just In: Barry Parade Public House Is Closing, but You’ve Still Got Time To Say Goodbye

When Barry Parade opened in late October 2024, it was a breath of fresh air.
“Brisbane’s bar scene is packed with variety. It takes something special to stand out from the crowd. Enter Barry Parade Public House, a Fortitude Valley bar serving Creole-influenced food, innovative cocktails and vintage spirits,” wrote Elliot Baker at the time. It was named by Broadsheet as one of the best new openings in Brisbane.
Now – after just 16 months – the venue is closing.
“It is with a full heart and a deep breath that we have decided it’s time to say goodbye to our time at Barry Parade Public House,” said the team on Instagram. “We aren’t going to waffle on about the state of the hospitality industry, as everyone knows how hard it is to open and keep running a small hospitality business. It’s only for the crazy few who do it and whether you open for 1 year or 10, it’s a roller coaster of the best times and the shittiest.”
But the team is determined to go out on a high note. “We are extremely proud of what we have done and would love to celebrate,” the statement continued.
Over the next fortnight, the team has planned two Sunday celebrations, which will “give you all one hell of a hangover for your Mondays.” The first is on Sunday March 22, and the final celebration is on the venue’s last day of service, Sunday March 29.
For now, the bar just has a single request: “Get your ass into Barry Parade for some goodbyes and crisp hi-fives from the team.”
Barry Parade Public House’s final service is on Sunday March 29.
