Co-owner Gareth Whitton

Tarts Anon lost its Cremorne home base in early 2025. So the brand found a new flagship not too far away, in Richmond. This location on Church Street is the biggest Tarts Anon yet, and sports a large and theatrical glass-fronted production kitchen, where you can watch owner Gareth Whitton and his staff hard at work.

Whitton is almost single-handedly responsible for bringing the tart back into the baked goods conversation after years of croissant dominance in Melbourne. That’s thanks to bestselling tarts such as chocolate and caramel, smoked pecan and butterscotch, and classic lemon.

At this location, you’ll find a changeable line-up of site exclusives. Past highlights have included a St Honoré cake topped with pistachio custard-filled profiteroles. There’s also more experimentation with laminated dough here, so even those who aren’t fans of shortcrust will find a tart to suit their needs.
