Features
A lot has changed since Swop launched in 2013. Second-hand fashion is booming, and consignment stores have become a common way of procuring and parting with clothes. Brisbane was the site of Swop’s very first outpost, and now the national retailer has one each in Melbourne and Sydney (with more on the way).
In December 2025, Swop moved to its new Brisbane location, just behind James Street. The new space is sleek and pared back, with mirrored partitions and concrete floors heightening the warehouse’s industrial feel. Designed by William McRoberts and Studio Gardner, the Fortitude Valley location is split into different zones, so you can find designer pieces and everyday pieces with ease.
You’ll find uniquely Australian design pieces dotted throughout the store, like a custom planter by Tanika Jellis and a table lamp from Sarah I’Anson. It wouldn’t be a Swop space without a decadent couch – here you’ll find a four-piece original Terrazza sofa by Ublad Klug.
