The Best New Restaurants in Sydney
“What good new restaurants should I try?”
Broadsheet’s editors field this question, or a variation on it, almost every day. While we’d just as soon recommend one of Sydney’s straight-up best restaurants or a long-standing institution, the pull of a hot new place is hard to deny. So here it is: our edit of the best new restaurants in Sydney, updated monthly. Some of these places are redefining the way we eat and will go on to become classics. Others will be shorter lived. Either way, these are the spots we’re enjoying eating and drinking at right now.

The Chinese restaurant from the Pellegrino 2000, Neptune's Grotto and Clam Bar team is another home-run. There's a lengthy menu that showcases China's Guangdong and Sichuan regions, a wine list by a legendary somm, and a stunning and fun dining room.

Mister Grotto
At this diner from the Continental Deli, you'll find a menu full of fishy dishes, in a space that feels like the quarters of an eccentric ship captain.

The grill is king at the Continental Deli team's Italian stallion. Inside a revamped butcher’s shop, take on nose-to-tail dishes and a wine list stacked with heavy-hitters from The Boot.

Inspired by Chinatowns all around the world, this casual Chinese joint by chef-couple Big Sam Young and Grace Chen serves comforting classics like sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken and honey king prawns.

A sprawling Venetian grill with enough beef and marble to sink a ship. Polished service and a lengthy menu of surf, turf and hand-made pasta add sizzle to the city’s steakhouse scene.
