Features
The choices are tough at Martha’s in Wareemba. Do you order the za’atar and goat’s cheese knot? A whopping brownie or Portuguese-style custard tart? All are possibilities at this smart corner bakery and cafe in one of Sydney’s smallest suburbs.
Owner Paris Nassif’s Palestinian heritage informs many of the flavours and ingredients here, evidenced in the pastry cabinet as well as the drinks list. Try the Single O cold brew with orange, cardamom and vanilla foam and you’ll wonder where it’s been all your life.
Attention to detail extends from the menu to the fit-out. Glossy cherry-coloured tiles dress up the facade. The walls are butter-yellow walls inside. Stainless steel racks display sweet and savoury pastries. And there’s a window through to a small pastry workshop where you can watch the lamination happen.
