The Eastwood hotspot has expanded west, with a new Euro-inspired bakery serving soft serve and cookie combos.

When Jenny’s Bakery announced plans to open on Everard Avenue in Keswick, the DMs started rolling in. Locals, Ashford Hospital staff and nearby businesses were all incredibly eager to know more.

“This bakery is a little different,” says Joe Titaro, Jenny’s head of operations. “It’s the first store we’ve ever built from the ground up. We didn’t want it to feel like a restaurant. It’s still a bakery – more high-end but never intimidating – somewhere everyone feels welcome.”

Since Titaro’s father bought the original Eastwood bakery in 1992, Jenny’s has become an Adelaide institution. When the pandemic hit and its wholesale business vanished overnight, the family pivoted to retail – to huge success.

“Covid completely changed our business,” says Titaro. “We went from baking for cafes, restaurants and bars to having lines down the street. Everything since then has been about creating things that make people happy.”

The new Keswick location continues that evolution, reimagining the old Sylvia’s Deli site as a modern, European-inspired corner store. And although it’s a step up in design and size – with a 75-person capacity – the heart of the operation remains the same.

“Everything’s still baked fresh each morning at Eastwood,” shares Titaro. “We’ve got about 20 full-time bakers.”

The menu features all the Jenny’s classics: buttery pistachio croissants, Nutella bomboloni, crème brûlée doughnuts, flaky fruit pastries, chewy cookies, meat pies, cakes, and generously layered focaccia sandwiches and subs. New to the line-up are moreish cookie and soft serve combos.

“We’re always coming up with something new,” says Titaro. “Sometimes it’s picking up ideas from different cultures – like when we made our pandan croissants – or just testing something we’ve seen trending overseas or interstate. It keeps things fun.”

If you need something to wash down all that pastry, there’s the full line-up of espresso, matcha and specialty drinks made with beans from St Ali.

Designed by Georgie Shepherd Interior Design and built by Progetto, the stylish-yet-relaxed interior features warm timber detailing, soft track lighting and lush greenery.

The team’s core focus is serving the community. With the hospital down the road and local workshops and offices nearby, Titaro says Keswick felt like the right fit: an underserviced pocket ready for something new. “This isn’t about opening stores for the sake of it – it’s about doing it properly because we love it.”
