This Dreamy Beach House Is a Slice of the Mediterranean in Mount Martha, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula

Less than 100 metres from the Mount Martha shoreline, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, is an outrageously beautiful new beach house that feels a world away. Not that you’re able to tell from the street: a discreet, black-slatted fence is all you see.
Designed by Melbourne-based interior studio The Stella Collective, the eight-person Martha Beach House has Big Mediterranean Energy. And it’s true group-holiday goals.
If there’s ever been a time to fight your friends or family for the master bedroom, this is it. Sure, the king-size bed is a legitimate cloud, but it’s the ensuite you won’t be able to stop thinking about. Although “ensuite” undersells it. It’s more of a mini day spa – but just for you. Flooded with natural light, the floors are paved haphazardly (but harmoniously) with chunks of stone, the vanity is made of mesmerising pink travertine, and the two-person shower is hidden behind a lovely linen curtain that’s no clinger.
That stunning stone floor extends into the main living area, where a roaring Cheminees Philippe fireplace takes pride of place. To the left is a dramatic marble-splashed kitchen (where you’ll actually want to cook) and a 12-person oak dining table. On the deck, you can look out over Red Hill, Arthurs Seat and the glimmering waters of Port Phillip Bay.
Downstairs, those who are unsuccessful in the quest to secure the master bedroom can settle in one of three other airy bedrooms, each decked out with a queen-sized bed. You’ll also find a bathroom covered top to toe (including the bath) in pale-green tiles, and a spacious second living room with a pool table. Huge floor-to-ceiling glass doors lead outside to a grassy area and a heated circular pool with lounges and beanbags – for whiling away summer days with all the amenities you could possibly need.
Stays start at $1000 per night for eight people, and there’s a two-night minimum. Book online.
